I get it !

PostAuthor: Piling » Sat Jul 16, 2005 10:30 am

Just received "Harry Potter and the Half-blood prince" in my mail box. :o

Inside I read that the book has been even translated in "Latin, Ancient Greek, Welsh and Irish".

I wonder : Is that a Kurdish translation ? For it would be a good deal for a Kurdish publisher to do it...

So - You wanna make money???

Because - no there are no Kurdish translations for most novels/romans... So go ahead... But if I were you I would perhaps translate more interesting books - like one about a peoples struggle for statehood... One about Scot's, Ire's or some other oppressed people... Kurds love to read about others in their position

I don't want to translate anything in Kurdish, I make the contrary, from Kurdish to French !:o

But I never saw interesting books for young ppl in Kurdish. Always tales for children, or realistic memories of Kurdish childhood, but nothing for contemporary teens. BTW, it could a nice and funny work to find new Kurdish words for Muggles, Patronus, and so on...

The movies do not begin to do justice to the books. The first two books are at more of a kid level but as the main character gets older so do the issues that he has to deal with.
Piling, I haven't gotten mine yet, it will be delivered to my work tomorrow morning, but I can't wait to start reading it.

okay pling, if they made a kurdi translation of harry potter i would be surpirsed if one gets sold, how many kurdish kids you know that are interested in harry potter, yet enough most kurdish kids wont be able to read it completly due to dialect. they would be better off buying the english, most kurdish kids speak english better then kurdish.

Mosul - You were getting angry at Dyaoko because he was "lying" about Islam...

Will you please stop saying things about Kurds that are degrading? If you want to say that the Kurdish kids YOU know are illiterate then say so! DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT catagorize ALL of one group and say they are the same... I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE MAKE BOXES AND USE THEIR NARROW MINDED PREJUDICE TO PUT PEOPLE INTO BOXES!

All the Kurdish kids I know are HIGHLY educated for their age and they read Kurdish (with Latin and Arabic script in Kurmanci and Sorani) VERY WELL... So please... Next time don't make Kurds seem dumb... And just say that "I think" or "the kids I know"...

Besides - if the Kurds you know speak English better than they speak Kurdish I feel VERY sorry for them - because their English sucks and then their Kurdish is worse, you say??
