YPJ established a new battalion

EFRÎN – Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) established a new battalion with the name of “Gulê Selmo” in Efrîn.

To declare the battalion, a military ceremony is organized. The ceremony in which tens of citizens attend started with stand with silence for the martyrs.

“We established ‘Martyr Gulê Battalion’ to prevent brutal actions of armed gangs against women in Tileran and Tilhasil villages.” said YPJ Command Jînda Efrînê.

Kurdish parties reach consensus on autonomous in northern Syria

Syria Kurdish parties and lines reached consensus over the way to control the Kurdish region in the north of the country, Hawar news said in a report.
The accord was made on Monday in Syria biggest Kurdish city of Qamishlo, where the Kurdish lines signed 9- article agreement on how to control the Kurdish region, the report said.
The agreement was made between lines close to Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) as well as other parties and lines.
The agreement decided creation of an autonomous region in Kurdish areas of Syria as well as making laws by the lines to control the regions.
They further decided to create a interim group which will make the election rules, creating defense, security, economic, social and cultural committees as well as holding local elections.

The PKK should concentrate on the mess in Turkey

Some Kurdish parties in Rojava are close to the PKK, so naturally they will seek consensus from them. The events in the West are relevant to the North, as they are to the South and East, so the PKK is involved in all of them. And the mess Turkey is Turkeys problem more than it is PKK's problem, they are more concerned with North Kurdistan and plight of Kurds living in Turkish areas.

Some Kurdish parties in Rojava are close to the PKK, so naturally they will seek consensus from them. The events in the West are relevant to the North, as they are to the South and East, so the PKK is involved in all of them. And the mess Turkey is Turkeys problem more than it is PKK's problem, they are more concerned with North Kurdistan and plight of Kurds living in Turkish areas.

Only two things are absolutely certain:
The Kurds of Syrian occupied Kurdistan want a totally independent country
In action or inaction taken by other countries is bound to cause yet more hardship for Kurds

ARTICLE 62.

A Commission sitting at Constantinople and composed of three members appointed by the British, French and Italian Governments respectively shall draft within six months from the coming into force of the present Treaty a scheme of local autonomy for the predominantly Kurdish areas lying east of the Euphrates, south of the southern boundary of Armenia as it may be hereafter determined, and north of the frontier of Turkey with Syria and Mesopotamia, as defined in Article 27, II (2) and (3). If unanimity cannot be secured on any question, it will be referred by the members of the Commission to their respective Governments.

The scheme shall contain full safeguards for the protection of the Assyro-Chaldeans and other racial or religious minorities within these areas, and with this object a Commission composed of British, French, Italian, Persian and Kurdish representatives shall visit the spot to examine and decide what rectifications, if any, should be made in the Turkish frontier where, under the provisions of the present Treaty, that frontier coincides with that of Persia.

ARTICLE 63.

The Turkish Government hereby agrees to accept and execute the decisions of both the Commissions mentioned in Article 62 within three months from their communication to the said Government.

ARTICLE 64.

If within one year from the coming into force of the present Treaty the Kurdish peoples within the areas defined in Article 62 shall address themselves to the Council of the League of Nations in such a manner as to show that a majority of the population of these areas desires independence from Turkey, and if the Council then considers that these peoples are capable of such independence and recommends that it should be granted to them, Turkey hereby agrees to execute such a recommendation, and to renounce all rights and title over these areas.

The detailed provisions for such renunciation will form the subject of a separate agreement between the Principal Allied Powers and Turkey.
If and when such renunciation takes place, no objection will be raised by the Principal Allied Powers to the voluntary adhesion to such an independent Kurdish State of the Kurds inhabiting that part of Kurdistan which has hitherto been included in the Mosul vilayet.

BEIRUT (Reuters) - A surge of clashes in Syria's oil-producing northeast has killed dozens of rebels and Kurdish fighters in the past two days, activists said on Thursday, in fighting that highlights a struggle for territory and resources.

Fighters from Syria's ethnic Kurdish minority - roughly 10 percent of the 23-million-strong population - have carved out an increasingly autonomous region near the frontiers with Iraq and Turkey.

Syrian Kurdish militants, particularly the armed wing of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), have repeatedly clashed with opposition fighters led by al Qaeda-linked units in the region as government forces retreated over the past year.

The fighting has underlined the growing complexity of Syria's conflict which started with largely peaceful protests against President Bashar al-Assad and degenerated into a civil war that has killed more than 100,000 people.

Divisions in Syria along ethnic and sectarian lines - as well as the rise of radical Islamist units that have come to dominate the rebel movement - have made Western powers including the United States more hesitant to get directly involved in the 2-1/2-year-old uprising.

The Kurdish PYD's military wing blamed al Qaeda-linked groups for the latest violence, saying fighters from the Nusra Front and Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) attacked a string of Kurdish villages in Hasaka province.

Heavy artillery and tanks were used, it said.

Estimates of the numbers killed varied. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 35 rebels and 13 Kurdish fighters had died over the last two days.

Rebels accuse their Kurdish opponents of collaborating with Assad's forces to secure autonomy - although activists said disputes over resources and territory were a bigger factor in recent clashes.

Munzir Ehmed, a Kurdish activist in the city of Qamishli on the Turkish border, said the Islamists were attacking to try and take control of oilfields and a border crossing under Kurdish control.

"This is not a political issue. There are divisions even between these rebel units over oil," he said, adding that seven Kurdish fighters and four fighters and a commander from Islamist brigades died in clashes near Qamishli.

Ankara has been particularly wary of Syrian Kurdish activities near its borders, fearing that they could embolden home-grown militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) that is demanding more autonomy in Turkey.

Iran, Turkey and Iraq also have large populations of Kurds. Kurds have an autonomous regional government in Iraq, where tens of thousands of Syrian Kurds have fled to escape the war.

Erbil Calls on Oil Companies to Help in Syrian Refugee Crisis

The KRG is struggling with a huge influx of refugees, which the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) estimates at more than 200,000.


ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Iraq’s Kurdistan Region on Thursday called on oil companies operating in the autonomous enclave for financial help to cope with some 200,000 mostly Syrian-Kurdish refugees from the Syrian civil war next door.

At a meeting with several oil companies in Erbil who pledged to provide emergency relief for the refugees, a statement by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said it hoped that $50 million could be raised through the effort.

“It is hoped that an additional $50 million of funds can be raised by the companies through their own industry-wide effort,” the statement said.

The meeting was held between the Ministry of Natural Resources and oil companies in the region following a request by the KRG’s Council of Ministers.

The oil companies are “long-term partners of the Kurdistan Region that can play a role in contributing to the relief efforts,” the statement added.

“Their assistance will make a big difference to the lives and well-being of the refugees and also help the communities in which they are located,” Ashti Hawrami, the minister of natural resources, said.

The KRG is struggling with a huge influx of refugees, which the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) estimates at more than 200,000.

It is estimated that the KRG has given $10 million in fuel supplies and around $25 million of capacity-building funds for emergency assistance.

Iraqi Kurdistan was recently overwhelmed by a flood of refugees, after it reopened a border crossing last month and was hit by some 50,000 new arrivals.

To combat the flow and provide housing and supplies the KRG and UNHCR opened new camps to accommodate them, but providing aid and supplies has become a problem.

Recently, more than 100 tons of emergency supplies were given by the United Nations with the help of funding from the Kuwaiti government, but the supplies have been running short.

William Tall, the head of the UNHCR in Kurdistan, told the oil companies at the meeting that now was a very important time to chip in, as winter is approaching and more refugees are coming in daily.

“The situation is not sustainable without further help,” Tall said during the meeting.

He also cited similar initiatives taken by oil companies to aid in the Azerbaijan refugee crisis, which amounts to approximately 800,000 displaced persons as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

There are a total two million displaced refugees from the Syrian civil war who are in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and the Kurdistan Region, according to UNHCR.

“The KRG, international aid agencies, NGOs and local citizens have all risen to the challenge posed by such a large influx of displaced people, but more is needed in the way of practical aid to help the Kurdistan Region cope with the scale of the crisis,” the statement said.

“Although the KRG (Kurdistan Regional Government) has already allocated $10 million in fuel supplies and some $25 million of capacity-building funds for emergency assistance, given the huge scale of the crisis and the number of refugees arriving daily we all need to work together to provide more urgently needed help,”

Given the magnitude of the problem, I think the KRG has done a great job in helping Kurdish refugees from Rojawa, no doubt about it. But I think a made in Kurdistan solution that gives work permit to every able refugee is a much better solution. The fact is Kurdistan needs manpower, they bring in workers from as far away as Bangladesh and Vietnam. Why not employ the Kurds of Rojawa? They have no language problem. Getting donation from oil companies and other industries is helpful but it doesn't solve the longer term problem of refugees. The fact is most of the refugees are there to stay for a long time. So, a long term solution should be sought. The diaspora Kurds can also pitch in. They are economically quite powerful now compared to the past.

I personally believe that most of the Kurdish refugees from Syria wish to return - they have left male relations in Western Kurdistan fighting for freedom - they do not want either Assad or the jihadists to take control of their country

Those that are in Kurdistan's refugee camps are much more aware now of the power Kurds can have - and the freedom that can be gained - it probably makes them even more determined to have a free country of their own

To the Kurdish parties and organizations in Western Kurdistan and all organizations of young people in Western Kurdistan

Dear sisters and brothers,

Greetings

The conditions of uprisings and revolutions which have passed and are still sweeping across the Middle East, including Syria and Western Kurdistan (Syrian Kurdistan), and which has not happened to be seen in the past and probably will not be repeated later, gave a vent to the oppressed peoples and a great opportunity to lift the injustice and oppression resulting from Sykes-Picot’s agreement in the last century.

Some consider that the suffering of our Kurdish people was a result of its weakness, but I take the opposite is true, because it happened from the division of our Kurdish community and its being controlled by most insignificant people, and it was caused by the power of our hero nation to preserve its humanity and civilization, and as well by the fear of others, the Kurdish people might come to control the entire Middle East if they would achieve their freedom and the independence of their homeland. But the Kurdish power is not consisting of imposing their influence on others by force, iron and fire, but through their faith in justice and humanity and civilization, for example, when the Kurdish people ruled the Middle East several times in history, for instance in the time of the Kurdish Sultan Saladin Ayouby, who did great justice to the people in the Middle East, as even his opponents, the kings of Europe, mentioned it. And at the time of the Kurdish Median Empire, about 3000 years ago, the Kurdish emperor issued his orders in seven languages.

Kurdish people’s rule was characterized by justice and equality between the ruler and the ruled, and the Kurdish people did not impose themselves and their language on other peoples of the Middle East. They also recognised these peoples and their own languages. But the other nations of the Middle East imposed their languages on the Kurds, and the Kurdish language was prevented from circulation to this day.

The issue of the Kurdish people in Western Kurdistan is the freedom and independence of their country Kurdistan. Like the rest of nations there, we do not want the continuing tension between us and them forever. That means, the Kurdish people by nature like to live with others, but on the basis of justice and equality. There can never be coexistence between free citizens and slaves.

The lack of unity among the Kurdish people has increased the fragmentation and rivalry in all aspects of Kurdish mobility. To my deep regret it reached the degree of low-ties where every organisation sees itself as the alternative and the only alternative and the others are looked at to be nothing and to be charged and played down by others as well, while all without exception are seeking the recognition of the Syrian opposition and the world powers, and are seeking respect for the demands of the Kurdish people. But in fact we, the Kurds, if we do not recognize each other and if we don’t respect all directions, Kurdish people will not get the recognition and respect of the Syrian opposition forces and the regional and global levels.

The realization of our unity in this propitious day and time is one of the most important factors for the freedom of our Kurdish people, and we will reap only regret and disappointment over this stage without our union. And that opportunity will not be repeated.

Most of the Kurdish parties and organisations are calling for unity and democracy, and this is meaning that every one of us should respect the opinion of others even if they differed with their opinion.

The Kurdish National Council at the conference held in Qamishlo on 26.10.2011 asked for the self-determination for the Kurds. Also the daily slogan of the masses is federalism in their demonstrations in all Kurdish towns and villages.

In order to agree on one speech, I collected the demands of Kurdish parties and organisations for unity and democracy with the demand of the Kurdish National Council for the right of self-determination and the demand of federalism of the protesters to make a uniform slogan which includes most of the parties as a minimum to sit at the round table as follows:

Union of Western Kurdistan region in a Federal Democratic System on the basis of the right of the Kurdish people to self-determination

Therefore I call for a Kurdistan National Congress in any European country, away from any influence of the Syrian and Turkish regimes to take free decisions. Kurdish unity and a unified Kurdish discourse will pave the way to take the role of the Kurdish people in the next stage in any dialogue with others regionally and internationally. I want to affirm that this is not an article or a statement but a practical step on the road to freedom…

If you find that a large proportion of the Kurdish forces intend to take part in the success of this project, I will be ready to secure the venue of the conference and arrangements in a European country.

The boundary that they are referring to does not even really mention Western Kurdistan, how can there be a "frontier of Turkey with Syria and Mesopotamia" south of Kurdistan? Anyway who cares what they thought or agreements they signed. In the todays real world and in the Information Age, we can not be fooled or have anything hidden from is anymore, like what happened to the past generations. And we all know that people have to be strong and claim their land and fight for their rights if they have to, nobody is going to let you have it anything easily.
