How many Kurdish men have 2 or more wives?

PostAuthor: Anthea » Wed Oct 23, 2013 1:48 pm

Many Kurdish men insult English women for having low moral standards - perhaps some do - but none who I know - but fail to insult the men who make use of often guliable females X(

If a woman has more than 1 sexual partner I expect that the type of men she is involved with will also have had more than 1 sexual partner - so why is it always the female who is insulted

These opinions coming from a people some of whom practise honour killings - have more than 1 wife - and are even allowed temporary wives - one can see that Islam was started by MEN X(

Polygamy is officially forbidden in S. Kurdistan as in Turkey, so it is hard to have real statistics but as far as I could have seen, it is not common, and not considered as a good thing by Kurds themselves.

They make jokes about the man, except if the wife had no male children (though it is mostly the man who determines the gender of his children). Or when men went to war during years, and they came back and wanted a new fresh wife for making other children :-D

Some sheikhs had also many wives, but religious are often like that, as say Kurds : greedy for money and tits

I have no exact statistics but I don't think it is very important among Kurdish societies. And not seen as a happy way of life. There is a Kurdish saying : peace can not stay in a house where there are 'hewî' (concubines).

And now that divorces increase, I believe that polygamy will slowly disappear.

Low moral standard for women according to kurdish definition is basically having multiple boyfriends or getting married multiple times .Men who take advantage of gullible women are certainly sick minded low lives , but it all depend on what you mean by taking advantage .
Is having sex with a women considered taking advantage of her in the west ? certainly not , because sex is always consensual .
What I have noticed though is that western girls wants all the freedoms they enjoy in the western culture and all the respect , care , love that , financial support a kurdish man would normally offer a kurdish girl .They in a sense wants the BEST of the two world which is not going to happen .

If you got confused see the definition again .

Not true , If a kurdish man in the west have multiple girlfriends then he is viewed by Kurdish community as being (shilati ) and kurdish girls would not marry him and they family would strongly object to the union . I'm talking about typical kurds here and there are certainly exceptions .

Anthea wrote:These opinions coming from a people some of whom practise honour killings -

Honour killing is certainly wrong and there is no debate about that , Same as crime of passion , adultery , lack of morality in relations , drugs ....... which are sky high in the west . It is terrible that you keep taking the high moral grounds like you are better than others when your own society is filled with filth , criminals and low lives just like every other society .

Given a chance , I'm most certain that many many women would choose more than one man as their husbands (see history ) .

Islam is most certainly the religion of men and it rarely mention or recognize women and that is why so many Christians are converting .

You talk about liberating them from their misery and they talk about liberating you from your misery =)) . Man just let it go , live and let other live the way they want to .

Forbidden in Turkey and in S. Kurdistan forbidden (since a Law voted in October 30th 2008) WITH exceptions allowing the man to take only a second wife in such cases :

– if the 1st wife is infertile (if the man is, no need for the woman to take another husband, apparently ;) )
– if the wife has sexually transmitted disease

Unfortunately the Law does not precise

– if the husband gives such sexually transmitted diseases to her wife he has the right or not to take another spouse and infects her ;

– if the husband takes another wife because the 1st is sterile and IF the 2nd is also, could he take a 3rd ?

– when a woman reaches the age of menopause, she becomes infertile, so could the husband take another wife even if the 1st gave him 20 children, if we consider that a man is fertile at 80 or 90 years ?

– If the 1st supposed sterile wife becomes pregnant AFTER the second marriage of her husband : the 2nd marriage legal or not ?

As we see it is a very incomplete law and I would add also a suggestion :

In case where sterility is not clear concerning the couple, both of them could take lovers in the aim to prove they are not the infertile one's. :D

My brother is a Judge and as I understand the limitations are completely meaningless if there is no complain from the first wife which as you know never happens . The so called limitation are so broad that you can make up any story and use as a reason to get married again . As far as I know there has not been a single case in Kurdistan where the court did not approve a second union .

Most kurdish men are not into second wife idea due to finacial limitations and fear from the first wife along with being suckers for love :-D

The other inefficiency of such limitations is that everybody can marry in Iraqi regions, out of KRG.

In any case, choosing to have TWO mothers in law is foolishness or masochism. ;)

You are rihht kak Talsor. And what they can not undertsand is that Kurdish culture was already pure and innocent even before Islam, and I think it is that that other Islamic societies borrowed from Kurdish culture and not the other way arround.

lol
Or someone could just go to a 50$ Mulla and he will tie the knot even if the court reject the application . There are practically no real consequences in doing that .

Mother in laws are fairly easy to deal with . A gift / money /tickets / dinner once in a month usually gets her off your back .

Nothing wrong with wanting more :-D

I guarantee you if they legalize polygamy for women you will see many women in the west marry two , three or four men YET you see them now criticizing and making fun of such culture .

lol contraception exist, but 3 or 4 husbands ? I guess that 000.01 % of Western would accept. Marriage is a such burden that one is largely enough =))

And i am sure that Westerner males see polygamy as a nightmare : many GF, ok, but many wives, the hell ! :p
