10 November

I have been watching Typhoon Haiyan and all the terrible destruction it has left in ti's wake :((

There is no justice in nature - the poor people in the Philippines will take a long while to recover from the typhoon - and before then many more people might die from disease or lack of food and water

In other countries people are intentionally killing each other and destroying land and property - it must look like madness to any alien looking down on this planet

What makes the fighting worse is that in most countries where there is fighting - the majority of the population does not want to be involved - even though by standing up in peaceful protest they could achieve a great deal more than those who kill - perhaps these warring countries need a new slogan:

GANDHI NOT GUNS

11 November

Kurdistan National Anthem
Ey Reqîb [Oh foes who watch us]

Oh foes who watch us, the nation whose language is Kurdish is alive

It cannot be defeated by makers of weapons of any time

Let no one say the Kurds are dead, the Kurds are alive

The Kurds are alive and their flag will never fall

We are the sons of the red colour of revolution

Our history is one filled with blood

Let no one say the Kurds are dead, the Kurds are alive

The Kurds are alive and our flag will never fall

We are the sons of the Medes and Kai Khosrow

Our homeland is our faith and religion

Let no one say the Kurds are dead, the Kurds are alive

The Kurds are alive and our flag will never fall

The Kurdish youth has risen like noble warriors

To draw the crown of life with blood

Let no one say the Kurds are dead, the Kurds are alive

The Kurds are alive and our flag will never fall

The Kurdish youth are ever-ready

And always prepared to sacrifice their lives

To sacrifice their lives, to sacrifice their lives.

By the poet Dildar (pen name – also known as Yonis Reuf, 1917-1948)

Shame the PKK do not support Ey Reqîb

Defining racism in England:

Positive discrimination - no longer are people allowed to employ the best person for the job - now we have to employ black people even if they are useless

Pensioners club in white area with all white members - tea - cakes - chat - computer lessons - advice on rights

Average age 75 - club used be run by same man for many many years - now aged 85 asked charity to find new volunteer - charity employed young Jamaican female - could not use computer - knew nothing on rights or law - only got the job because she was black - seriously charity was told that they had to employ an ethnic X(

She overheard 2 men 85 years old talking about the world wars - both had been soldiers - one of them said something to the other about his doctor not speaking English properly - even our health service know this is a problem with doctors coming from abroad - this black female has thrown the little old men out of the class - and cancelled the class - cancelled their Christmas party which had NOTHING to do with her

In England people of different ethnic groups can ask councils to house them in areas where others of their ethnicity live - white people cannot ask to be housed where other white people are X(

I have been arguing with police and council to remove drug dealers from a block of flats - neither the police or council will install CCTV in order to get evidence - BUT - if there is a claim of verbal racial abuse they put in CCTV cameras

Many years ago I was involved in running 2 Kurdish community centres - we tried many times to get government funding - black charities that did nothing were getting vast amounts of funding - one strange group that claimed to help 200 every day was run in a small flat that was always closed but they received £200,000

I am researching a charity that receives over 50 MILLION POUND each year - and I still cannot find what they do with it

NOW I HAVE HAD ENOUGH AND I AM RACIST

Anthea, you know you sound prejudice, from by what you wrote bellow? Especially the part about hiring useless blacks to do the job. The quota to hire a certain amount of people from a minority group, is to protect a that segment of the society from discrimination and hopelessness, it gives then a chance. This does not mean that they should hire any useless person, but they should hire a black person who is qualified, and there are just as many. But it sounds like you think that blacks are all not qualified, and everybody knows this is not true. And I have seen many useless people from many other groups.

I think it is good to put in clear some definitions :

Racism is a (wrong) belief that humans are divided in different 'races" mostly according to their physical appearance (color of skin, hairs, eyes, features etc.) and that these different races determine abilities : for example, Black Africans would be poor in mathematics or sciences (the same with sexism : women would not be good in logic, can't read a map. etc.).

Racism is not saying 'I refuse that useless and incompetent Jamaican could be employed' but ' An employer is useless and incompetent because he is a Jamaican (it is in his race).

Now xenophobia is different : a general of hostility toward all or such foreigners ; the feeling that everybody should stay and die in homeland and that migrants are stealing places and jobs of native citizens.

Xenophobia says : 'I refuse that this job could be given to a Jamaican, even if she/he is competent, because jobs have to stay in native white people.'

Concerning some perverse effects of positive discrimination, I can not judge, such things do not exist in France except for female/male parity in politics. But many French citizens with Arab or African or Caribbean origins complain about that glass-wall preventing them to reach the same level/rank/functions at work than others (the same complain from women, btw). But positive discrimination are not at all in the French mentality (their absolute ideology of 'equality for everybody', which is wrong in social realities).

You are so very lucky you do not have positive discrimination in France - it is tearing England apart - in my quest to remove drug dealers from social housing I have come across a directive from one housing association to it's employees telling them to concentrate more on helping non-English tenants - I am still trying to get hold of a copy of that directive

Re Jamaican lady - I live in a white rural area :ymparty: the club is in a white rural area - in order to comply with government legislation on positive discrimination and requirements to employ minorities - the charity had to advertise the post MILES away in a black dominated area - in order to make sure that black people answered - as far as I have been able to ascertain the post was not even advertised locally - I will be investigating further :ymdevil:

I do not know what the refugee situation is like in France but in England we have very few genuine refugees - now our government has bought in something called a bedroom tax - this is aimed at people who have lived in the same social housing property many years and whose families have grown up and left home - now the government is trying to force them to downsize by charging extra rent for spare bedrooms - the reason being that we have many non-English families who need housing - our housing waiting list is now 1 MILLION people - all the single people who were on the waiting lists because their homes were either sub-standard or temporary have been told that they will NEVER be housed and have been removed from the waiting lists - English people are becoming really angry

The more children people have the higher up the waiting list they go - English people have on average 1 or 2 children - empty houses go to non-English people who tend to have more children - white English people now have less rights than anyone else in England 8-}

Unfortunately, positive discrimination in England prevents us from hiring the best and most suitable person for the job. Colour should not come into it - I have been fighting to have job application forms changes so that people do not have to state what colour the are - a persons ability to do the job should come first - a charity such as the one I mentioned - should not be forced to employ a black person who knows nothing about the rights and is therefore not able to advise - many companies now employ token blacks - the black people are generally aware they are token blacks and sometimes ignored by other workers

Ethnic minority companies are NOT compelled to hire white people X(

People cannot be forced to like each other - positive discrimination is making some parts of England a dangerous places to live

I personally work on a committee with 4 other people:

1 Kurdish gentleman from Turkey
1 Black lady from Barbados
1 Black African gentleman from Ghana
1 Afghanistan gentleman

I also brainstorm with and obtain marketing guidance from a half English half Vincy lady - and if I need financial advice I ask my Jamaican adopted son :o)

Come on Anthea, we are not talking about neurosurgery here, I am sure these employers can find plenty of qualified people to do most low paying jobs. But they are many racists , and they probably would rather lose money by hiring an unqualified slacker just to mock the system and try to undermine it, because the do not agree with it.

Not as easy as it should be to find qualified black people in England.

On average I think the following is probably a fairly honest assessment:

Children from Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, Polish backgrounds etc know almost from the time they are born that they will study and become Doctors, Surgeons, Accountants, Solicitors or some other specialist field.

Boys from white indigenous families either follow in family business, go into law (either side), politics, Information technology, or become footballers :o)

Girls from white indigenous families tend to go into social work, teaching, general office work, mostly non-professional.

Girls from black families study extremely hard but generally lack family support and often fail to do well in business.

Boys from black families do not study hard and are often disruptive in class - they are much more likely to be sent home from school.

Much of the above is the result of having supportive families and positive role models - or lack of family support and negative role models - much of the negativity within the black community coming from America

There is also a great difference in where a young black child's parents originate - children whose parents/grandparents come from the smaller Caribbean islands such as Trinidad, St Vincent (where Pirates of the Caribbean was made), Barbados, St Kitts etc tend to have a much stronger family unit and do far better in the education system - and have far greater aspirations than children of Jamaican decent.

Hitler used information gained through Eugenics to separate, divide and annihilate various racial groups - those same Eugenics now form the basis of equal opportunity forms in this country X(
