That's the exact opposite : I don't like coffee taste in pastries & ice-creams. But I like ice-coffee and other Starbuck things.

During holidays in Athena, I enjoyed the famous Frappé Coffee.

Beside, reading Agatha Raisin's series, I notice that each time heroes go to the pub and eat a not-healthy comforting food, it's steak and kidney pie with chips.

I winder why steak and kidney pie is so popular. I mean kidneys are cheap meat not very liked in France, nowadays.

And I would like to know the difference between 'chips' and 'French fries'.

In UK 'French Fries' refers to really skinny potato chips

Chips are much thicker, crispy outside and soft fluffy inside

Being 5 or 6 times thicker than French Fries they are considered far healthier because they do do soak up as much fat as the equivalent weight in French Fries

McDonalds serves French Fries that are normally soggy and often cold :ymsick:

I never eat in McDonalds :D

The MacDonald size is called "allumette" by France and Belgium (the true Homeland of 'French' Fries.

The largest are bûches (log)
Then 'Pont-neuf' is average size served in French bistrots (Pont-Neuf is the oldest bridge of Paris, in spite of its name, and the first place where frites had been sold in Paris)
smaller than allumettes (matches) there are 'pailles' (straws)
and the tiniest are cheveux d'or (golden hair).

What we call chips in French is :

If you are intolerant to lactose you can probably eat yogurt and cheese, they contain less of it.
