Turkish soldiers raided Bingöl

Turkish soldiers who raided the Burmataş (Xişxişok) hamlet of the Hasanova village in Karlıova (Bingöl) dug inside a house, ransacked it and subjected women to violence

Soldiers entered and searched the hamlet with multiple vehicles on 21 December.

Villagers told Mezopotamya Agency about the harassment they were exposed to during the search. They stated that during the search many objects in the houses were broken.

Nothing was found during the search, however the soldiers ordered an arbitrary excavation, saying that there was a camp under the house of 85-year-old Zeki Sayak, who had been arrested twice.

Women protested against the soldiers digging and were met with violence. The villagers said: "They insulted the protesting women and beaten them. They removed the quilts and searched them. There were wanted people in the village and they were asking where they were hiding. We said that they didn't live in the village.

There is no one left in the village due to the heavy repression. Only women, children and a few elderly. The children were trembling with fear and crying. The soldiers knew there are no wanted people in the village, but they just carried on with the searches to torture families."

During the search, some of the villagers' cell phones were confiscated and some were broken by soldiers.

Pointing out that the villages in the mountainous areas are difficult to access due to the winter conditions, villagers said: "There are winter supplies in the houses. The soldiers poured the food. How can we cope without supplies in this winter day? They know the people they're looking for aren't here. They threatened the women and said that if the wanted people did not come, they would raid the village again."

The villagers called for human rights organizations and lawmakers to examine what happened in the hamlet

Turkish troops invaded Karamık

Turkish soldiers arrest almost all residents of a hamlet in Siirt

The Turkish regime’s political genocide practices against the Kurdish people continues unabated.

Soldiers of the Turkish army carried out a raid in the rural Karamık (Umyanis) hamlet of the Doğan village, in the Pervari district of Siirt on Tuesday.

The soldiers searched all houses of the residents accusing them of “propaganda and recruitment for a terrorist organization” and took 19 people into custody. The detainees included 70-year-old cancer patient Ahmet Tunç, who was released only after talks with the prosecutor.

Family members of miner Hasan İnal who was trapped underground after a landslide at a coal mine in Şırnak yesterday, were also detained in the operation; his mother Sarya İnal and brother Mirza İnal.

Among those detained are also three minors; Ahmet Batıbey (15), Leyla Batıbey and Diyar Tunç.

According to reports, as almost all residents of the hamlet were detained in the operation, children and the cattle have been left unattended in the hamlet.

Eighteen people detained in Bingöl

Eighteen people, including women, have been detained in the province of Bingöl in connection with the Turkish regime’s never-ending political extermination campaign against the Kurdish population

At least eighteen people were taken into custody in the province of Bingöl on Tuesday, including several women. In a large-scale operation, the police stormed numerous homes in the city centre, as well as in the districts of Genç, Karlıova and Solhan and carried out meticulous searches.

The operation was conducted under the label of "counterterrorism". The investigation file is currently being kept secret and those affected will be denied access to lawyers for the first 24 hours.

All those taken into custody are being held at Bingöl police headquarters. Among them is Übeyid Özer, who is co-chair of the district association of the HEDEP in Solhan
