Those written "Roxane photo" are from a french woman photograph who knows northern kurdistan by heart! I went with her in Southern Kurdistan this summer but she's very lazy and did not publish her photos yet!

Riha (Urfa) where Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) was catepulted from two pillars. God created a pond - and the Prophet fell into the water. Till this day the pond stands - and is a place of pilgrimage...

Here is a collection of pictures I've personally taken on my way to Wan province - I took the pictures while in the car...








Elezîz Center...


Cute cows came walking onto the road...






On the road from Elezîz to Bingol - there were a LOT of donkeys along the road...




Occasionally a flock of sheep or goats would come out on to the road...


Deshta Mûshê... 50 km of open landscape - surrounded on all sides - by beautiful mountains...

Altitude 2700 meters (where the car is) - the mountain is around 3000 + meters...






This is Akdamar Island - on the Wan Lake... If you look closely - you can see Akdamar Church... Which you can find pictures of further up this thread...

Closer to my birth lands: Colemêrg...



This type of "Jandarma control stations" are everywhere in North Kurdistan... It's ridiculous - you drive 20 km. and another stupid station shows up - "Dur dur" it says ("Stop stop") - and they can be real sons of b****** at those stations - all are soldiers and commanders - making you open all your baggage - and ask you stupid questions... Just to annoy you and terrorize you... This one soldier looked at our Europeans passport - and asked - "Where is fathers name and mothers name written?" (Those are written on all Turkish documents... But never in European documents...) They don't say "Tork-e-khar" for nothing...


Wan dam project... Where electrisity is made - and 70% of it is transported to "West Turkey"... The rest is used for Turkish state institutions in North Kurdistan - called "Dogu" ("East") by Turks...




Wish I was there...


Kurds love sheep...
