About history of Kurdistan and middle east and the world.

What was there before the Ottoman/Persian division

PostAuthor: Vladimir » Thu Jul 13, 2006 10:54 pm

Kurds always talk about the division of Kurdistan. What was there before the division of "Kurdistan"?
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

It depends of wich time you talk about. Before 20th century no country was independant, all regions were incorporated in great empires or between sultanates. In fact, the division of Kurdistan had been made with the Treaty of Lausanne, and the we can say that Kurdistan was divided before having been united :

The only time that Kurdistan was united administratively was under the Seljuks... It was a province which included not only greater Kurdistan... but Luristan, Armenia and Azerbajian....

Prior to the Ottoman conquest Kurdistan was under the control of the Akkoylu... A Turkic tribal confederation that drew support from hetrodox Muslim elements...

Piling,

I find quite interesting that photographs (Kurds at the World Cup 2006) are shown without showing their actual source, and there was no mention of copyrights and legal procedures.

Please have no worries. I take full responsibility for any post and I shall assume the legal consequences. :D

Long live ASSYRIA! Khaya Atour!

Assyria, you are going offtopic here with your regular bullshit. If you can't go ontopic, fuck off.

back to the topic, i dont think kurdistan's ever been united as what we want to have as Kurdistan on the map today :|
but when we talk about the devision of Kurdistan, it might be reffering to how the great kurdistan is being 5 parted in between 5 countries!
hopefully one day all these parts will join together for one great united independent Kurdistan :D
