Welcome to Roj Bash Lazlo! :)

California is a beautiful state! Do you like living there? I live in Texas, but I've been to California a couple of times.

Hello László - and welcome to Roj Bash Kurdistan! :D

It's a pleasure to have you here!

I've been to Hungary many times - and Budapest is a BEAUTIFUL city!!! :D And so is the rest of the country - the landscape is slightly different from the rest I've seen in Europe...

I hope you enjoy your stay - and that you can improve your English while learning about Kurdish culture... :)

Xoş hatî = Welcome! :)

You're welcome... :)

You've seen "The English Patient", haven't you? It's one of my favourite movies... Count László de Almásy (your first name too? Is it a common name in Hungary?), the leading role, is from Hungary - he plays some beautiful Hungarian music for Katherine - a lullaby which his "dajka" sang to him as a child...

It's interesting that "dajka" means "nanny" in Hungarian - since "Dayik" in Kurdish means "mother"... :)

Yes it was good movie. László is common name. Attila is more common. I agree he plays beautiful music. Have you read book The Hunt for Zerzura...by Saul Kelly? It more acurate about life of Count László de Almásy.
Its interesting it similar.

Ah :)

Well - Hungarians are supposed to be the descendants of Turkic peoples - so Attila being a common name makes sense... No I haven't read that book - but thanks for the tip. I will check it out when I get the chance to...

How close is Magyar to Turkish? I mean the language...

What do you call these things, for example:

Table
Speak
Word
House
Sky

--- I'd like to compare it to Turkish to see the similarities... :)

Thank you

Thank you

Yes and Finns, Estonians,Lapps. It funny I dont understand Finnish. I try to read it before and not understand 1 word. We gone through Turkey about 1500 year ago. May be why some words be similar. You know Turks ocupy Hungary for 150 year from lost Mohács battle in 1526. Turks are ocupying your land now. We have some words to from Slavonic language when live back in Carpathian basin for 1100 years. Also from years of Austro-Hungarian empire before have some German but not said much.

Table - Asztal, Tábla
Speak - Beszél
Word - Szót. You mean word as in word? or like promise? Ígéret.
House - Ház
Sky - Égbolt, Ég

Hungarian - Magyar
Hungarian Language - Magyarul
Hungary - Magyarország
