Meryem Khan (1904 Shirnak – 1949 Bagdad) Known as the first female artist to record Kurdish songs. She recorded nearly 200 songs for the famous Baghdad radio in the 40s. Her songs have been sung by generations of Kurdish female artists.
Known quote: “I cant live without art”.

Was she a fayli?

these kurds are no feyli, but yes they are southern kurds. they came from Kerkuk and suleymania regions. they speak most close to sorani and fayli but their language is also close to kurmanci and zazaki.

they say "bro" for come and "hero" for go. and "vitim" for i said.

we have also been in adana in eary times. now we are in ankara-konya border (Tuz lake region) and there are the biggest population of these "lak" kurds. (i not one of them, we are just neighbours)

Lak Kurds are Kurd Faylis.So there are. Just look at this map:(Btw laks, Khalors and Faylis were the samething)

yes maybe in that way. but this map is wrong. i know them personaly, and i am by my self from west-anatolia, we are since 250 years here, like khorasan kurds in khorasan.

Biggest population of Sheyxbizin (called by ottomans "laks") are not in adana, but in Judikan region on the map near ankara. right under Judikan there is Bazayni, refering to "sheyx bazayni kurds". i am from Janbeki region. the population in adana is either assimilated or very very little. Even that Janbeki/Jadikan names are total wrong.

that region on the map for Lak kurds are mostly populated by our kurds (the same kurds as central anatolian kurmanji kurds), i have relatives who works there. their population is agan very little.

It goes off-topic, but that map is very wrong. the biggest tribes in central anatolia are not "judikan" or "janbeg". the biggest tribe is "rashwand/rashkan/rashia" tribe wich is also in west kurdistan on the map.

Just out of curiosity but why do faylis put so much emphasis on being fayli ? it is fine to be proud of your background , but all kurdish tribes and groups fall under the umbrella of Kurdistan and I think the emphasis should be in that direction .

Well we do enthasis were Kurdish aswell ofcourse, hence were Kurd Faylis. If we didn't enthasis we were Kurdish, then saddam hussien wouldn't of deported and executed our family members. We take pride in being Kurdish of course. However Kurd Faylis aren't a tribe, as you know Kurd Fayli is a corruption of Pahli, we enthasis on our Parthian ancestry aswell, just like Khalors, Laks and us ofcourse. My tribe is Ali shirwan, but you don't see me calling myself that bro. Anyways Sorani and Kurmjani Kurds are the majority, so you don't feel like your tribal or clan names are under threat, whilst we are a minority. If we don't enthasis the point were Kurd 'Faylis' our children and their children will eventually forget their mother tongue sadly. Anyways Kurd Faylis have achieved alot, both we have been successful in terms of money and power and in helping Kurdistan.
