no, both settled there since thousends of years. they lived together side by side, even genetically kurds and armenians are closely related, because they lived together.

the armenians lived mostly in towns and villages, while kurds were partly nomadic and partly not.
kurdish dynastie like the schadadiden, rawadid and marwanids ruled this areas before thousneds of years.
even the father of salahadin was born in armenian.

only armenian nationalists claim this ares for them alone. but today actually it is kurdish. dont listen to them !

No it isnt Armenian. This is one of the biggest "lies" on this universe. Armenian language as well Armenians descend from Phrygian, which itself is a branch of Balkan Indo European languages. They moved from Balkanbs-Central Anatolia to East Anatolia. The Reason why to outsiders this Region has been known as "Armenian Highlands" is because most Europeans where introduced into this region by Armenians and as expected the Western world adopted the names used by Armenians for this Region. Another fact is, that many Armenians on the so called Armenian Highland where actually Parthians who became Christians and adopted themselves into Armenian society because there was some differences between the Parthian authorities in West and the Parthian King in East.

The mount Ararat , beside to Europeans which have adopted the name "Armenian Highland " from Armenians, was known to Near Eastern people like Assyrians and Jews by names like "mount Qardu" (which basically means mountain of the Kurds) and according to Jews mount Ararat was located in Corduene (the former name of Kurdistan) and not Armenia.
