I think I am turning into a BAT

I seem to work at night and sleep during the day

I do not like having spiders running around my home - I have to catch them and put them outside

If I lie on the grass - I know that there will be hundreds of spiders of all shapes and sizes running around - I just ignore them and brush them off

Raining here now so will not be able to sleep in the woods today

Did you know that dogs chase swans - only problem - this time of year swans chase dogs - the swans have got babies so nobody dare allow their dogs anywhere near the lake

The trouble with presenting Business Plans is the waiting time - it could take a week or more before I know if I have been successful

Rain and thunder all day then 7pm the sun comes out

I hope we have a dry weekend I have the gardener coming - over the last few weeks all the trees and bushes have grown so much I can hardly get in the door

Yes 24 May - months after the terrible flooding we had - much of our farmland has not recovered

Where the flooding took place in coastal areas - the water reservoirs were contaminated with sea water - as they were not designed for desalination much local tap-water still tastes bitter and salty - bottled water is still being used for drinking

Lovely summer

I notice that Kurdish refugees and even some Syrian refugees and holding anti-PYD demonstrations

Personally I have never trusted the PYD or believed that they have the best interests of the Syrian Kurdish population at heart - especially when they separated the Kurds into 3 small cantons

The cantons are designed to further control and suppress Kurds - and ignore the majority of Kurds now living outside the cantons

Russian crocodile hospitalized after woman falls on it

It’s one of those tragic accidents that seems to replay itself far too often. Not a week goes by that I don’t open up the newspaper and hear yet again about how a crocodile has been injured by a woman not wearing her seat belt.

Whelp, here we go again… On 20 May in Murmansk Russia a 2m long crocodile named Fedya was treated for injures after a 120kg (265lbs) woman fell on it. This incident started off like they always do, with a minibus full of circus performers driving through the Arctic.

According to AFP and Russian media, a group from the “Soviet Circus” were traveling to their next show location when the driver hit a pothole and had to make a sudden turn. The sharp swerve led to the troupe’s accountant, an unnamed super heavyweight, to tumble from her seat.

Unfortunately Fedya the crocodile just happened to be resting underneath her on a blanket and took the full force of her girth. Fedya initially showed no signs of injury. Naturally, if the crocodile had started shedding tears, no one would have believed it anyway.

However, Fedya soon began vomiting and continued to do so for around three hours. Fearing for the reptile’s life, the group took it in for medical attention. Much like when taking a gunshot victim to a hospital, taking a perpetually vomiting crocodile to a veterinary clinic is bound to lead to the police stopping by and asking some questions. As a result, the accountant was issued a reprimand for not wearing her seat belt.

Luckily this time, the crocodile injury ended on a happy note. Fedya did not suffer serious injury and, according to the circus group’s leader, made a full recovery. It’s actually currently in Moscow doing the television circuit there. We should all be so lucky.

Night Shadow Frame: Steel tubular one off rigid perimeter frame designed and fabricated at Polar Cycles.

Mechanicals primarily sourced from eBay, 1997 Buell S3 Thunderbolt outfitted with a Sportster-based V-Twin 1200cc engine. The components were refurbished as necessary before being installed in a one-off custom oil in frame hardtail, frame constructed from Steel Tubing and complemented by a passel of bespoke parts.

Working with professional computer illustrators to create the visual image, Barend then worked alongside a sculptor to make a mould and fabricate a glass-fibre fairing to curvaceously cover the mechanical side of matters.

Although the initial idea was to have the coachwork formed from chrome-plated copper, this notion was later dropped as a weight-saving measure. It was then a case of detailing the unique machine through embellishment of the distinctive Buell rolling stock (17-inch rims mounting Avon 120/70 ZR rubber up front and 170/60 aft) and fitment of custom seat cover in stingray hide, custom exhausts, custom foot and hand controls, wiring loom, multi-coloured neon lighting, etc.

The intimidating jungle cat's head cleverly incorporates a headlamp along with a quartet of magnetic mandibles that can be readily removed should circumstances dictate.

Copious coats of glossy black lacquer paint provide a classy finish to the 3-year project.
