That's a sound cloud audio not a video.

Perhaps all your system of safe-computer prevents you to just hear an audio. :-D

"People in the newsroom and on various monitors were already using the word that would soon be hung around his neck like a millstone. They used the word as if it were a synonym for “death sentence” and he wanted to argue, pedantically, that that was not what the word meant. But from this day forward it would mean that for most people in the world. And for him."

"Again, this old self wanted to argue, this time with the word “sentence”. This was not a sentence handed down by any court he recognized, or which had any jurisdiction over him. It was the edict of a cruel and dying old man."

Reading Joseph Anton, Salman Rushdie's autobiography before and after the fatwa, it seems to happen in another world. Not for the threatening against him but the way using by Iran against Publishers, translators, readers : death to prevent its diffusion. Nowadays, the epub would be copied, spread uploaded and downloaded by anonymous in the web faster than a virus.

About Kobanî, I read everything and the opposite. Until now, the city did not fall. Erdoğan has probably in his mind to let the city falling in the hands of ISIS and when all PYD would have fled or be prisoners or killed, he might decide to let enter Turkish troops. Then civilians could come back, 'protected' by Turkish army. That might be a scenario. But YPG will resist street by street, that would be a hard battle.

I wonder when PYD will denounce the treason of Syrian regime which was its first ally. Bad strategy to have chosen Baath sideNow people in Kobanî paid the price of PKK's policy.

You would know better than I but:

A few years ago (could be 10 years ago) - when Western Kurdistan was trying to declare independence - I remember that the Syrian regime gave many Kurds back their rights as citizens

They tried to placate the Kurds because the Syrian regime was experiencing protests in other parts of the country and wanted the Kurds to be on their side

I believe that their the PYD/PKK's relationship with the Syrian regime stems from that time :D

Probably neither - wherever he does now will be too little too late

The man is an idiot and much of the current problems Kurds face in Syria are of his making X(

MIT may ask to PYD to join the Syrian Coalition, but PYD can not move a toe without PKK's consent…

Rainy and cold weather, suddenly. Autumn.
