Jash ? no ! Some of them are PKK, some are former HADEP, some are originated to former Kurdish movements. Some want to be independant (but it is not easy). In general, mayors are better than Party members, for they live on the ground and have to deal with concrete problems in Kurdistan : refugees, starvation, diseases, urban network etc.(of course among themn, there are very dumb or weak people, only nominated by the party for elections). They are elected by people too, so they have a real legitimacy and face pressures and threatenings. In general, they are all Kurdish activists, whatever their political opinions.

to my experiance, in retared countries , ellections are fake and those who would be ellected , are jash and pupet and there is always cheating in the elections in opressor middle eastern countries.

so by your idea, Turkish election to choose mayors are free and anybody can nominate himself ?

i wonder could ochalan or murat qaraylan nominate themself in the election ?[or like iran they have to be "Qualifed" to apply]

Turkey is not a complete dictatorship, it is a half-democracy. Even in the worst eyars of 90s, HADEP could make campaign, and even if their candidates were murdered, arrested, tortured, and sometimes ballots seized by police, at the end, they successed to have a great number of elected mayors.

Now, it is better. You could be elected without great danger in Turkey and elections are fair (according to interntational watchers who went in Kurdish cities to control). And everybody can be elected (but if the PKK don"t prevent an independant to make campaign...)

Concerning the DEHAP party, and all the parties depending on the PKK, yeah. They chose a candidate according to their political interests or negociations. For example the former mayor of Diyarbakir, Feridun C,elik has been "replaced" by Osman Baydemir.
