Kurds don't originate from Iran! Read to learn your history!

Kurds arent Iranians and they have nothing in common except for language. We do NOT come from them, we are our own people. We do not originate from them.

first of all: Indo europeans group of people whose existence from around 4000 BCE is inferred from their language,

Medes belongs to the indo-european branch

Persians (anscestors of todays iranian people) belongs to the indo-european branch

There are many other groups in this branch too as i said.

Todays iranians have nothing to do with the old medians (who are also indo european), because their anscestors are the other indo-european group; The Persians.

Persians, just like medies Speak indo-iranian.

The Medies had the empire Medea/Media while the persians had Persia.

Later persia chose to refer themselves as Iran. Their people too, from Persians, to Iranians.

But the thing is, we kurds are also iranians, (And hurrians too.)

However, even though they referred themselves as iranians, they ARE not "iranians" because they DONT represent ALL indo-iranians tribes such as our medies. They should their rename back to Persians again, because saying your Iranian is like naming.. Italy to "Land of the europeans." (which is what the word Iran means = land of the iranians)

So we are as much iranian as they are, and we DONT not originate from them, not a single bit.

So because them changing their names, lots of people think we originate from them.

So a kurd can say he is a proud iranian/hurrian/medie, but that doesnt mean he come from iran, because we dont refer to them (when we say we are iranian) and they arent really iranian, just a piece of it.

Anyways not knowing im todays iranian is a relief too me lol :p

(but im still half iranian you can say since we also are hurrian :p)

Sorry if it was a bit complicated but it was the easiest way to say it.

so the whole indo-iranian thing branch, doesnt mean that we kurds come originally from todays iranians (that we are a mix of them and hurrians, while they are medies), they just persians who chose to name themselves as Iranians.

So a kurd is as much iranian as todays iranian, but they chose to call themselves that instead of persian.

But because of this, many people believe we are originally from todays iranian but we arent.

Thankyou

Some info:

Hurrians lived in the mountains, where we live today

The Hurrians spread out and eventually dominated significant territories outside their Zagros-Taurus mountainous base
From second to first milliennium BC large Indo-European populations joined Hurrians. And these two together, made one of the worlds most proudest people, the kurds.

interesting indeed, I don't really know, but I've always thought we were Hurrians, I've been wondering about this too.

I think we are mixture of medes and hurians and even other ethnics.
when arabs attacked iran and iran falled down, many other ethincs runned away to Kurdistan to be safe from arabs, and they learnt kurdish.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then YOU WIN !

But if we are medians, does that mean our origins are from iranians? Does this mean we are naturally from Iran? I mean it says the medians were ancient iranians and it says they are the ancestors of the kurds..

Edit: The Hurrians were the mountain people, the indo-european people were like nomads and iranians arent mountain people, kurds are :S But we do speak either proto-kurdish or indo iranian......

Iran would be a true Iran if it was a Federal Republic made out of its many different ethnic groups.

The Kurds can be best related to the English. The English are a mix of Celtic and Germanic people. Saxons, Angles, Jutes, Vikings, and Bretons are the mixture of people that make up the English identity. The Germanic people contributed most to the English language in many ways that the Iranian people contributed most to the Kurdish language. In this sense of mind, the Kurds best resemble the English. Another factor you could use is that the Kurds don't consider themselves a part of Persian Iran just as the English don't consider themselves a part of Germany.
