No need for a link... Just click "Shout Room" (this forum we are in now) and then on the top of the list it says "Govendên Kurdî - The Kurdish Dances"...

The reason for that is I've got a lot of catching up to do - so it will take time before I'm ajour with all your new posts...

When I have a complete overview of all that's been said while I was gone, I'll start being more productive - posting new threads... :)

No - not the ones of me... :P Those are 1) from my new collection "Mîr" ("Prince") - and 2) from the 2005 Newroz party in Bergen, Norway... :)

I was talking about photos I took from my brother in-law's wedding 2006... I wanted to show you some more female dresses... :)

Oh dont even mention the control posts it was such a drag! I dont remember there being so many before it was much worse than usual. One place the soldier opened the gift wrap of a present that İ was bringing for a friend of my mothers  Şerefsiz...
But it was surprisingly only on the Colemêrg - Wan road. We went to Gewer (Kadıköy actually, İ think its called) one day and there was none, apart from the one where you turn to the Gewer road. İt was wonderful to see that life hasnt changed for regular people there in spite of all the army operations (other than the massive amount of controls).
We (my brother in law and İ) went to Alanya yesterday (İll be staying here for a few days before İ go back to Denmark) and apparently it started snowing the same night as we left. Every day İ could follow the snow creeping down the mountains its so beautiful really. Trying to upload some pıctures to the internet right now but its real slow. İll post them a bit later.

Maşallah - so many beautiful faces and clothes!

May God bless them all - each and every one of them...

Thank you so much for these extra ordinary photos - it's good to see you have realy captured the essence of Kurdistan and Kurdish life... Typical Kurds to have big scale weddings even this late in the year! We love our cejn û govend! :P

Those clothes which you were asking about - they are worn in Hewlêr, Silêmanî, Kerkûk etc. :)

You can find varieties of them in both Başûr and Rojhelat - where you'll find even more to choose from...

The difference between North (Kurmancî & Zazakî) and South (Soranî & Goranî) Kurdish clothes is that in the north one has two layers of clothes: kiras (dress) û fîstan/kurtek (cape/cloack) - and in the south one wears kiras simply with an êleg (vest)... And usually a belt around the waist... But in the North the belt is in silver/gold and goes over the cloack/cape... :)

In South the kiras is usually see-through - revealing the şelwar (baggy pants) and binkiras (under-dress)... While the north only the upper layer can be see-through (the fîstan or the kurtek)... :)

Thanks again for the beautiful pictures - I recognize the road from Wan to Colemêrg in your photos - that zig-zag road up the hill towards Elbak (Başkala)...

How was Elbak, by the way...? Du vet at min forlovede er der? Der bor hun med sin storfamilie...
