There are Kurds everywhere, in case you haven't noticed...

News flash (watch Arash jump in and correct me here  ) - the Sassanians weren't "Persian" - but Kurdish... Erdewan, Erdeşîr and many of those other kings were Kurds - Goranî, Erdelanî and Hewramî speakers...

Norway is fine - not colder than Boston...

I'd appreciate it if you'd calm down the remarks... Thank you...

Iranic and Persians are NOT two worlds apart , Persians are apart of the main Iranic family , and its natural for any non-iranic person to dub it Persian , because of the iranic groups , Persians ,are the most well known . Even in my language , though we have Tajiks , Pashtuns , and Persians all of whom are iranic , we call Persians - Irani , Tajik -tajik , Pashtun - Pathan . Eventhough Nov Ruz , is celebrated by all Iranic groups ,its known as Persian New Year to everyone else , the list goes on. Even at the International week fashion show , even I knew those Peshmerga style clothing is distinctly Kurdish , the MC said it was Persians menswear from Northern Iran . YES , very ignorant but I dont think the MC meant to hurt sentiments . Btw its warmer in Boston than Oslo , I checked the 2 week weather forecast LOL. NUFF SAID

Well, I read the articles here from time to time...can't say the members' posts and comments are worth reading/responding to, though.

Diri wrote:I'm not more intolerant than I ever was... In fact - I'm not intolerant at all... You're just offended by my belitteling Persian culture into virtually non-existant... Of course, your reaction is natural... Now you know how it feels to read those words from somebody who's supposed to be your closest kin... Just as much as I do when reading stuck-up crap from Persians...

I wasn't aware Raman was Persian. And don't patronize me.

Diri wrote:Excuse me, but there you go at it again... Now suddenly - "Arabic music" (you are gonna tell me) is Persian music... And now - "Islamic Art" is probably just a branch of the Great Persian Art and Culture... Am I right? Is that not what you wish to insinuate?

Diri wrote:News flash (watch Arash jump in and correct me here  ) - the Sassanians weren't "Persian" - but Kurdish... Erdewan, Erdeşîr and many of those other kings were Kurds - Goranî, Erdelanî and Hewramî speakers...

Please explain HOW they are Persian... I'd be pleased to know what exactly you mean...

I'm not going to give you the satisfaction! :)
Well, since I wasn't aware that the Sassanids were Kurds, I'll withdraw my comment. Guess that truly makes us a cultureless people. Now you see why I don't frequent this site so often...kinda puts me down...:(
The first musical system of the Middle East, on which most of the, for example, Arabic music is based on was created by Barbad, during the Sassanids (which makes him Kurdish, I guess.). Alot of Islamic Architecture is based on Sassanid (Kurdish) architecture, for example Fire Temples (belongs to a Kurdish religion) and old cities (probably Kurdish cities).

I'm not aware of a Sassanid king named Erdewan either...there were several Parthian kings with that name though - but I'm guessing the Parthians were Kurdish aswell. No offence, but you do sounds like a Turk sometimes.

Dork...

I didn't say all their kings were Kurds...

I said many of them...

But it's obvious both you AND Raman think I'm this anti-Persian guy now... And no - I'm nothing like Turks... That's offensive, btw... :?

Would you like me calling you Mongolian, Arash?

The MC actually SAID that?

And what ethnicity was he himself?

At least glad you think that was ignorant of him... And then perhaps, you understand why I feel offended by you saying Kurds and Kashmiris have "Persian Culture" in common... I, like 99% of all Kurds have had it up to here - and it's too much... All this Persian this and Persian that...

As I told you - I've no personal agenda against Persians and my best friend is Persian... And that's despite the fact that she's an Iranian nationalist...

What I meant was the TERMS are two worlds apart... Persian = Ethnic group while Iranic = Linguistic/Cultural group of different peoples...

I apologize, that was rude of me. Let's leave it at that, I don't see what good will come out of arguing about these things.

Arash joon - chera hemishe intori mikôni?

Don't just leave the discussion... :(

Apology accepted...

And pardon me for being sooooo sharp and edgy...

But you of all persons should know, Arash - I'm not anti-Persian at all... You've been around for over a year and you've seen my thoughts on a range of matters for that period of time both here and on Pan-Iranism...

So I hope you misunderstand me right when I say these things... It was more of a reaction to the dominant role that Persians so often arrogantly take to... Nothing personal...

Well, obviously your insults were misdirected since Raman is Kashmiri.
I'm not sure if there's really a discussion to leave - are we talking about whether Persians have a culture or not, or about Kurdish dances?

No no... That's not what I meant... Of course I knew he was Kashmiri from day one... Oh God... I feel like I've messed up things here...

I'm gonna split the topic - but later...

We were discussing the Persian dominance - how justified it actually is... Is there basis for it - and what?

I'm a fish... I don't have feathers...

I have shells... And they're fine now... Thank you - but as I said, you didn't need to delete anything...

Offensive doesn't equal = must be deleted... What one person finds offensive may not be the general idea of what is offensive...
