You have a good point. I decided to post a picture of myself in the avatar.

You look VERY Irish... :)

Dîrî's right, you certainly do Kate - you might not have the red hair but you have the lovely pale complexion of the Irish - you'll be the envy of the Kurdish girls here!

I appreciate the compliments a lot but I'm afraid the camera lies sometimes

There are really people of all kinds of colours and hights here but a lot of them are probably not all scandinavian either, some are central or east european just a few generations back. Genetically darker colours are dominant as far as I can remember, like with eye colours. All of my in laws hope that any children of ours will have blue eyes but the chances are almost zero to none.
When it all comes down nobody's really 100% anything as far as origin goes.

163cm is just under average here in the UK Azade, I'm 172cm (quite tall) and you're right, I tower over most girls in Kudistan.... and quite a few of the guys too, lol!

You're right about origin and genes, I could get away with being from anywhere as I'm quite dark, I've been mistaken for Italian, Arab, Jewish, you name it, it just goes to show.

You look typically Scandinavian to me though; pale skin, blue eyes, red hair - a lovely mix - and don't you kid yourself, that camera isn't lying, you're a very pretty girl :)

I'm often mistaken for being Latino or Spanish, Italian - basically Mediterranean...

But what surprised me only a month ago - was a Kurd telling me he thought I was Turkish...

And no offense to him - but from the way he and the rest of the Kurds he hangs out with look physically - I can fully understand why he'd think I look Turkish...

@Evîn - I'm 177cm and I felt very tall in England... But in Scandinavia - I'm very average - most guys are between 175cm and 185cm over here... :)

I can see why you'd be mistaken for Mediterranean Dîrî but Turkish, never

It's fun having people guessing, they go half way round the world before they mention England to me, then when I say I'm English, they ask me where I'm from originally, lol! I'll have to trace my family back one of these days, I'm convinced I'll find a link to the Middle East in my not too distant past, that'd explain my look and my passion for Kurdistan :D

I'm surprised you felt tall here in England at 177cms Dîrî, most guys I know are taller but then I'm surrounded by giants, my hubby is 182cm (same as you Raman) but my son is nearer 190cms, they tower over me, even my daughter is taller than me at 175cms!

The funny thing is I look similar to my mother, only she has lighter hair and sie ist Deutsche. In Ireland if your father is Irish, then you're considered Irish. ;)

That's alright - yeah I've done 2 so far, which went well - and have 2 more home-examinations (have to write two essays for Wednesday)... Which is what I'm supposed to be working on now... But it's sleepy time now... So good night Kate! :D

Some pics from my recent trip to Hawler, hope you enjoy (although photos don't ever do Kurdistan justice).

This one is where we held our Newroz picnic - in the middle of nowhere, just beautiful!

Some uninvited guests to our picnic, lol!
