Punishment for long hair in Iran!

PostAuthor: Diri » Tue Mar 18, 2008 9:09 pm

Watch this video. Look how the police are torturing and beating this young man up for having "too long hair" - according to the state ideals of the Islamic Republic of Iran. They also forbid the use of TIES for men - because these two things are "western" and they therefore resent them!

When I watch things like this - abuse, lynching, stoning etc. - I boil with anger...

I love Islam, but sometimes i also dont anderstand something like this. Not only about long hair.
Have you herd that In Saudi Arabia in cities Mekka and Medina now not allowed to sale cats, not only dogs.Because keeping cats its western habbit. This rule even Saudian people dont understand.Because Quran tells nothing againat cats.
I know it little bit not from the topic about Iran, but anyway.

You don't understand obviously... Let me help you clear some things up:

Why do you think this is "Islam"? It's not...

Please don't automatically assume that something is "Islamic" just because somebody says so... Do you think that Al-Qaeeda is "Islamic" for example? No... They are the most anti-Islamic organization in the world, probably... Furthermore, not all Muslims follow Islamic way of life...

"Islamic Republic of Iran" is not "Islamic"... But they CLAIM that they are...

You have to keep in mind: many people ABUSE religion to get power and money... That is what the IRI is doing in Iran... Now people are very sorry that they accepted the "Islamic Revolution" in Iran in 1979... Because they didn't know that it would be like this. They were tricked into thinking that it would be good for them... But it is oppressing them (the people of Iran)...

And besides, there are more than 12 million drug-addicts in Iran... That is not "Islamic" either - since Islam prohibits all things which creat addiction (drugs, smoke, alchohol, gambling etc.)...

You know what I came to think about?

Sufi Kurd:

Image

A "Sufi" is a person who dedicates his/her life to religious spiritualism and doctrination... He/she forsakes the "wordly life" and enters a religious, pious life...

Most Sufi men wear their hair long... How can it be a sin in Islam if religious men have long hair? Or how about the Prophet's cousin, Imam Ali - who also is often pictured with long hair... And he's even pictured with an ear ring - by most people...

That surprise me ''that in Saudi Arabia in cities Mekka and Medina now not allowed to sale cats'' I've heard that most Muslims are fond of cats. I did search and found a link that supports this:

It's all about being in the wrong place at the wrong time; you can get away with long hair in Iran aswell.
This is actually a fairly nice treatment; there's a video on youtube of masked iranian policemen beating the literal shit out of some kid until he's unconcious, allegedly because of his long hair.
There is only one path and that is the path of Asha

i agree with you kak sohrab. neither the IRI nor the Taliban are Islam. A little off the subject, but did you notice that in Iran, an Armenian can use his Armenian name, a Turk can use his Turkish name, but a Kurd can't use his Kurdish name? :?

I like that picture you posted of the Sufi playing daf! i play daf as well its a very spiritual instrument.

That's interesting about cats being banned in saudi arabia as pets

This angers me very much as well. It has nothing to do with religion. There are some extremist fanatics in everything.

Ironically Sufism , a very tolerant , mystic and open minded branch of islam had its roots in Iran , and now its like become this 7th century imitation of arabia , shia style . Its not surprising than , that every single persian I know , is either an athiest , one extreme has pushed them to another , and another thing many Persians now view anything arab now as declasse and now insult the ayatollah and the shiite faith and now tend to wear zoroastrian symbols to show there "aryan pride" , well the ones in the US do. I dont know how it is in Europe.

It's basically the same here, Raman. I once met a girl with a faravahar tattooed on her back, because she thought "Fire is better than Allah", haha
