How can I take my boyfriends mind off his family at newroz?

Hello, every year my boyfriends friends invite us to celebrate newroz with them, and it is very fun, however it is the time when he misses his family most as they are all celebrating together, (As they did when he was home) and he cannot be there. And usually it is too noisy for him to speak properly on the phone! I hate seeing him sad and last year I sent him a huge bunch of orange and red flowers which did cheer him up alot! How can I cheer him up this year? I always cook yummy Kurdish food for him (and friends) so this wouldn't work, I want to see him with a smile on his face as he deserves and show him I understand he's missing his family much more at this time, which is very special to him anyway!

mayeb you could take him to those kurdish festivals they do for newroz,I don't know where you live, but im sure there are those parties in us and europe...

Thanks for replies! A ticket to Kurdistan is not an option at the moment, he cannot goto his hometown for various reasons and financially, we just spent all our savings going out to sulymaniyah last september! His family also broke themselves traveling over with all the children!. We live in a small town so there are no big celebrations, the nearest would be about 3 hours away. Again we haven't got the financial funds

I have an idea, Kurds love fire, fire in nature...make a big fire with woods, then dance and cherish arround it...and jump over it...Kurds love to do that in Newroz, so may be that make your Bf happy to see fire on newroz day

just wake up and i have a nightmare - that i was in a plaine to Kurdistan and i realize that i forgot to take video camera - straight away i too it out and i will pack it today
