good for them but what has this to do with article 140?

alot. these are called Sahwa in other word Sunni army and the American made them they are located in the Arab region south of kirkuk province "hawija " but now Malik is making them guards which is basically nothing and have no power against Kurds or shia in case of 140 implementation ... and it's a good step for severing the Kurdish region of kirkuk and let go of the Arab region of hawija.

It seems Maliki is sick of being pictured the bad man and Baathists the victims. Now he want to create a Kurdish North Shii South and Central power share just like in old days. Good for us bad for the Baathist who oppose a Kurdistan even after he saved them.

Along with the Kurdish political parties, civil society organizations are also protesting the absence of the Kurdish language in the traffic signs along the standard Arabic and English.

In a gathering of the civil society organizations in Kirkuk Citadel’s garden on February 11, the organizations protested against the absence of Kurdish language in the traffic signs of Kirkuk city and surrounding areas.

Leila Hamawandi, a civil society activist said, “We protest writing on traffic signs only in Arabic and English.” She added, “We consider it neglecting Kurdish, and ask the officials to change them as soon as possible. Because it’s the right of the Kurds.”

Nearly ten organizations attended the gathering, and gave the officials ten days to change all the traffic signs. “If they are not changed in the specified time, we would take further steps,” according to a statement issued at the gathering.

Twelve Kurdish political parties, except the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, which is one of the ruling parties in Kurdistan, met and issued a statement protesting not having Kurdish on the traffic signs.

The statement asks the Kirkuk Provincial Council to put the issue on the agenda of the upcoming session on February 14, and to discuss it. It also asks the Kirkuk Governor Nejmadin Karim to, “Investigate the relevant directorates in order not to repeat the same thing, and also to write the Kurdish names properly.”

Most of the traffic signs in Kirkuk province are written in Arabic and English, while Kurdish is an official language in Iraq according to the Iraqi constitution.

hevals, i have a question.

is there something in movement about the disputed territoris and kirkuk. i have the impression krg do nothing in this case. the referendum is overdue for 5 years. since 2007 we do not enough for our peoples. kirkuk and other places are victims of radical arabs. we cannot look and ignore. kirkuk must be a part of kurdistan, but i think nothing happens. our politicans give us only empthy promises over articel 140. i heard that today kurds died again in disputed territories.

i wish our peoples only the best, but i have no good feeling. if we cant get kirkuk for 5 years, can we really take it back with our own strenght?

Kemal Kirkuki: Kirkuk is invaded and taken apart from Kurdis

PostAuthor: alan131210 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:09 pm

Kemal Kirkuki, the former Parliament Speaker of the Kurdistan region considers Kirkuk as invaded and taken apart from Kurdistan.

Kirkuki, who is also a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) politburo urges the Kurdish officials not to show any compromise for ‘returning’ it to the Kurdistan region while he also said the people of Kirkuk should practice civil disobedience as Gandhi did in India.

In an interview with the Hawler newspaper, Kirkuki said, “Kirkuk is an invaded part of Kurdistan and taken in times of dictatorship.” He called for a referendum to implement Article 140. He added, “Kirkuk people can take back their city peacefully, as Gandhi did in India.”

According to the Iraqi constitution, Kirkuk is a disputed territory. Its fate is bound to the implementation of Article 140. The article calls for normalization and a referendum to decide the fate of the city.

3. Referendum

Firsge stage is 95% done which is compensation and cancelation of land confiscation by Arabs in the province . Next is census which will be done anyways cos without it Iraq and Kurdistan can't do all things needed for government projects .

The Kurdish political parties in Kirkuk unified their projects to bring the factions closer. They will hand them to the Kirkuk governor in a week.

In the Gorran (Change) Movement office in Kirkuk, 13 Kurdish political parties held a meeting on February 25 to discuss the ways and methods of bringing the different factions of the province closer. A five-fold committee was formed to discuss the projects given by the parties.

Qadir Hamid, head of the communications of the Gorran Movement said, “We want to unify our projects and agree on our next program of working in Kirkuk.” The meeting followed the February 15 meeting, where two Kurdish ruling parties of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) were absent. “The projects are similar and could be unified in a week,” Hamid said.

Kameran Kirkuki, the KDP representative in Kirkuk said, “The projects focus on the future of Kirkuk, coexistence and bringing factions closer.” The newly-formed committee is supposed to unify the projects and hand them to the Kirkuk Governor in a week.

Most disputes between Baghdad and Erbil will be resolved

Iraqi government: Most disputes between Baghdad and Erbil will be resolved after formation of Nechirvan government

Image

06/03/2012 12:31

BAGHDAD, March 6 (AKnews) - The Iraqi government said today that most of the outstanding problems between Erbil and Baghdad will be resolved after commissioning officially the new Kurdistan Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani to form the government on Wednesday.

Mariam al-Rayyes, adviser to Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, said: "The federal government wants to resolve all the outstanding issues according to the Iraqi constitution."

The most prominent points of dispute between Baghdad and Erbil include the budget of the Peshmerga, Kurdistan's share of the Iraqi public budget, the oil contracts between the Kurdistan Regional Government and foreign companies.

A sticking point is also the application of Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution regarding disputed areas of land, which states that resolving the issue of these areas should be done in three phases - normalization and a national census followed by a referendum among the population to determine the fate of the regions.

It was announced yesterday that the President of Iraqi Kurdistan Massoud Barzani is expected to assign the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister elect Nechirvan Barzani with forming the new KRG cabinet on Wednesday.

Upon the assignment, Nechirvan Barzani will have 30 days to announce his new cabinet.

Nechirvan Barzani was elected as the new KRG prime minister by the parliament of Kurdistan Region to replace outgoing Barham Salih on February 16. The move is part of a political deal between Barzani’s Kurdistan Democratic Party and Salih’s Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

Under the deal, the two parties entered elections together and shared power. Each party gets the chance to head the government for two years in each four-year term.

bra, that are just words. they will never solve the problems. arabs lies! the dont give us kirkuk. i have no hope.
peshmerga must take it and over.

arab terrorists killed since 2010 over 700 kurds in diyala and the central governement support them. krg must do anything. many of the dispute terrirories are already lost.

for example jalawlar and niniveh! they killed 2007 more than 500 yezides wiht only one bomb.

they will lie ever, we must take it, as long we have the power for that. iraq will be alwyas stronger, then it can be late someday.
