ERBIL, July 10 (AKnews) – Australian Oil Search company has suspended its activity in the Kurdistan Region due to an armed attack on the company’s work base in Nawjul District in Kfri.

Director of the district Wahab Ahmed confirmed the incident and denied that it was linked with the political problems between Erbil and Baghdad.

Ahmed added: "Unknown armed men opened fire on Oil Search company last night and because of that the company suspended its work temporarily and left its camp base."

The company staff have now gathered in their main office in Suli and are meeting to decide whether to stay or leave.

This is the second time the company has been targeted by unknown armed men. A worker was wounded one week ago in an attack.

Is the District Kifri alredy officially part of Kurdistan or is it part of the disputed areas? Because it is a District from Diyala, but in many reports and maps it is shown as part of Kurdistan.

some key points i want my fellow kurds to know about Kurdistan exporting oil , signing contracts etc...

Kurdistan has oil and gas law ratified in 2007 , iraq is still using the "law of Saddam era" which is a centralized oil law.

the constitution articles 111 and 112 has clearly pointed out that regional governments have the right to manage their own oil affairs , but because the iraqi government is still using saddam's era oil and gas law they say "Kurdistan exporting oil is illegal and is smuggling" , but lets have a close look at this statement.

as i mentioned kurdistan has its oil and gas law and its constitutional to export its oil, but iraq refuses to ratify a "new oil and gas law" which in the constitution which will give Kurdistan the authority to its oil affairs but because they do not like what the constitution gives Kurdistan they prefer to use the old baath party law which is a centralized oil system in dealing with oil resources which is illegal to use this law, and they say oh "it is illegal" so they dont want to ratify the law which is in the constitution bcoz it will give KRG legit authority to export its oil in the constitution , hence they want to keep using the oil law of saddam era .... who is illegal and unconstitutional ! KRG or iraq !!.

so kurdistan exporting Oil which is constitutional is "illegal" while iraq uses saddam oil and gas law is "legal" !!!! why not pass the article in the constitution to have a "new oil and gas law" which will give Kurdistan the authority it has at the moment !!!

it is obvious iraq is illegal and they are smuggling oil not Kurdistan as we use Kurdistan oil and gas law 2007 while iraq uses saddams centralized oil law.

I bet those bastards were happy when saddam killed kurds. Shahristani will fail in his mission of enslaving us. All he can do is bark and delay, when the pipelines stand ready and we export 2 million barells a day nobody will touch kurdistan.

Osman: Oil does not get smuggled from Kurdistan, but transferred to Turkey and Iran

Image

Erbil, July 14 (PNA) - The leader of the Kurdistan Alliance, Mahmoud Othman, said on Saturday that oil region are not smuggled into Turkey and Iran, but transferred to there, as pointed out that this comes in response to reduce the region's share of fuel by the government Federal.

Osman said that "there is no smuggling of oil to Turkey, and Kurdistan leader Massoud Barzani was clear when he asked to form a committee of the Federal Government and the territorial Government and independent experts to investigate the facts and detect the smuggling that was there," pointing out that "what is happening in the region is to send a oil tanks to Turkey and Iran".

Osman added that "the transfer of oil comes as a reaction to reduce the share of Kurdistan's oil and fuel from the central government and there is an agreement somewhat between the two governments to pay dues to companies which is not implemented," adding that "the differences that exist on the subject of oil in three ways is the legal and technical, political, and the latter is dominant now because of the differences. "

He said that "Turkey is no friend of the Kurds and Kurdistan sends oil tankers to any country because the country which issues it will benefit from the oil , and this is happening because of differences with the federal government and the Ministry of oil that could not run things well."

Othman called a "dialogue to resolve the problems, especially the Kurds accept the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court, but in political terms, it depends on the current crisis and to any direction going and how, if resolved, and resolved the political crisis will be solved the problem of oil."

What do Bagdad think? That we will wait and starve after they cut our refined oil supply by 90 %? Screw them and their Iranian agents, If they want kurdistan stop exporting oil then they have to invade us and get their Safavid ass kicked.

'Turkey importing crude could rise to 100-200 road tankers per day from Kurdistan' Turkish Energy Minister

Image

PNA-Turkey has begun importing 5 to 10 road tankers of crude from northern Iraq daily and the volume could rise to 100-200 tankers per day, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Friday.

Kurdistan region, which borders Turkey, is locked in a dispute with the central Iraqi government over oil exports and energy policy has become a sensitive topic.

A Kurdistan regional government source said earlier this week that it had sent a small amount of oil to Turkey by trucks in exchange for diesel, adding it needed the refined product to run power stations.

"Crude purchases from northern Iraq have begun with a volume of 5-10 road tankers. This may rise to 100-200 tankers a day," Yildiz told reporters at a ground-breaking ceremony for a power plant in western Turkey.

Kurdish Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani has said that if the central Iraqi government did not provide Kurdistan with its share of refined products, the region would be decided.

Iraq has cut supplies of products to Kurdistan to 16,826 barrels per day (bpd) from 32,116 bpd from April 25, far below its 140,000 bpd allocation.

Separately, Turkey and Kurdistan are also in talks for the direct sale of natural gas to Turkey.

But in a sign of moves to soothe ties between Ankara and Baghdad, the two governments have started technical work on shipping crude oil from Basra in southern Iraq via the Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline to Turkey's Mediterranean coast.

Very nice news. It would deal a heavy blow to Baghdad if Chevron and total entered kurdistan. We just hope they do it fast and ignore Baghdads maffia treaths. Turkey have signaled that it would allow the oil to be exported and there is no fears left. Kurdistan is a safe place to work in, have an oil law and export route. Baghdad can only bark now but to no avail.
