To the man who used an interpreter to show me photos of his family and tell me about them - I still remember - you told me you did not expect to live very much longer - yes I do remember you and I always will - all the others who asked me to always remember them and to remind others of what they are fighting for - I will NEVER stop reminding people of your bravery your pride and your sacrifices

I wrote this for a PKK friend of mine 13 years ago - a man with no name - from him I learnt the passion of the freedom fighters and the love of Kurdistan so strong that they would give up family and friends to fight for the freedom of the Kurdish people and the right to be a Kurd

To him and to others who must remain unnamed I vowed that I would give Kurdish people my continual support

Long years ago - as I sat in a restaurant with my Kurdish friends - one from Turkey one from Iraq - we needed translators to enable us to speak with each other - my friends spoke of their history and their hopes for future generations - and of the sadness of they both felt as Kurds sitting next to each other yet not being able to speak to each other

Perhaps they are both dead now But I will NEVER forget

I dedicate this once again to all Kurdish Freedom Fighters

I give thought also to the memory of another very dear friend of mine - descended from a well-known Kurdish freedom fighter - he travelled to many parts of Kurdistan supporting and encouraging the people - fighting side by side in Syria and elsewhere - he never returned from Syria

Some might say that these people were fighters so they were not innocent - however most I spoke to took up arms because there families and friends had been murdered by one of other of the forces occupying the various parts of the Kurdish homeland

There was one young man whose entire family were killed when a bomb landed on them - more than a dozen family members including his parents slaughtered - others that have seen their villages burnt to the ground with people still in them - I have heard many stories such as that
