Do Kurds living in or coming from North Kurdistan really want INDEPENDENCE?

The BDP have shown on MANY occasions that they intend to work with the fascist Turkish government in order to keep Kurds under Turkish control and have NO RESPECT for all the BRAVE freedom fighters who died to make Kurds FREE X(

If you are a Kurd living in or coming from North Kurdistan do you want an Independent Kurdistan?

I hope you don't make the assumption that whatever the outcome of this poll may be it has a relevance with what all kurds of NK want.

I want it. First of all a proud and numerous people like us Kurds should have a country and second thing is. I don't want to live together with our Subhuman enemies (Turks). But as long as we pursue BDP we won't manage it. They want to live together with their turkish brothers and sisters.

Is this even a question? of course they want independence, and they will gain it. Our Kurdistan shall go from Lake Urmia to the mediterranean sea, from Ilam to Kars. Every Kurd want's independence, and likewise we shall free ourselfes from these, Turkish, Persian and Arabic lice.

All the Kurdish people who I have ever known want Kurdistan to be free. That includes Kurds from all the different occupied areas. I, like many people coming to this forum, have had friends who have left behind families and friends to join the freedom fighters and some and died for that freedom.

I am NOT certain that the BDP are helping. Is there any other Kurdish party in Turkey that will stand up for Kurdish independence? If not the Kurds are going to have even more problems.

Why did Kurdish people vote for the BDP because certain of it's MPs are NOT talking about independence. Who will Kurds vote for next time?

There seems to be one vote for NO :-D . Something mentally seriously wrong with anyone who wants to live in the shadow of someone else . I mean even in democratic country like Spain and Canada you see Quebec and Catalonia wanting to separate , so compare that to what turks did and have been doing for the last 100 years and you will realize how sick you are if you voted no .

BDP are up against a Nato country with the support of the entire Western world. What do you expect them to do? Simply talking about Kurdish independence in Turkey will get all of the BDP politicians behind bars.

Simple answer YES

1) The rest of the world, including NATO, could not allow Turkey to imprison an entire political party

2) The PKK fighters do not just talk about independence they fight for independence and they do not get put behind bars they get KILLED fighting for independence

Maybe not the whole party, but its main leaders, effectivly making it "headless".
The world is quiet about most of the things Turkey does. The chemical attacks on our dear PKK fighters , All the journalists and other innocent kurds in prison (hardly anyone talks about these things. Turkey even sent a 80+ year old deaf (and i believe he was blind too) man to court because he possesed a half lemon (reduces effect of tear gas).
I personally dont want PKK to lay down arms for anything less than autonomy (independence would be a unrealistic demand for now).

Azizekem :

Approaching the kurdish question in such timid manner only embolden our enemies . Leaders have a responsibility towards their nation and going to jail for the sake of their nation is part of package in times like this . BDP as an organization have failed to make an honourable stand and their constant flip flop , appeasement approach and lack of clarity in term of goals only pushing our struggle backward .

The conflict in Syria has highlighted the so-called Kurdish problem again. Why I refer to it as "the so-called Kurdish problem" is simply that I do NOT consider Turkey, Syria, Iraq or Iran to have problems with Kurds. I believe that it is Kurds who have problems with other countries.

The problem inside the Turkish boarders should NEVER be referred to as the Kurdish problem as it is in fact the Kurds who have the problems due to the Turkish occupation of traditional Kurdish homelands.

Due to the current high profile that Kurds are achieving in Western Kurdistan (because of the fighting) and South Kurdistan (because of its economic expansion and its standing in the worlds oil market), I believe that NOW is the time for Kurds within North Kurdistan to declare independence. It is either NOW or NEVER.

Kurds in West Kurdistan will NOT settle for anything less than independence.

Kurds in East Kurdistan are probably one of the most stable groups within Iran and hold a strong position within the Iranian government. There are a great many political problems within Iran with several other ethnic groups, as well as Kurds, demanding greater rights. Iran appears to be heading for a political meltdown with Kurds coming out on top.

Kurds in Iraq just go from strength to strength while all about them Iraq is falling apart. There is now a great deal of fighting, politically and otherwise, between the different religious fractions. I personally believe that South Kurdistan, which is almost totally independent anyway and by far the safest most stable area of Iraq, will become totally independent VERY SOON.

We ALL know the way Kurds have been treated by Turkey. If Kurds in North Kurdistan continue to live under Turkish rule they will remain third class Turkish citizens. Turkey will continue brainwashing and indoctrinating Kurds via TV, the government owned and controlled media and the education system. Do Kurds really want their children to go to Turkish schools and chant "Happy is he who can call himself a Turk" Turkey is not only killing Kurds it is also stealing minerals, including OIL, from Kurdish land. One might say that Kurds are, all be it unwittingly, providing the money to pay for the weapons that are killing them. Kurds are paying for their own destruction.

BDP leaders should stand up for what Kurds want. And every Kurds I know wants an independent Kurdistan. Perhaps they will be at risk of arrest, as I mentioned before, PKK are at risk of death and it does not stop them, In England the government bought out anti-terror laws that effectively silenced the PKK. Many of us who were working with Kurds knew that we were also at risk of arrest but we did NOT stop.

The BDP are elected to support the people NOT sit there on their backsides and support the Fascist Turkish government X(

If BDP does NOT stand for Kurdish freedom then it does NOT represent the Kurds and has NO place in the political arena X(

You and I both want the same thing, but our ways to achive it is different.
I do agree that we are in a much better postition now than we were 20 years ago (In all parts of Kurdistan),but i still believe we should do this slowly. If BDP says they want independence now, their party will lose its top leaders, and reduce political influence. Personally i believe we should do this step by step. First try to get some degree of autonomy, and slowly strenghten that postion. After some years of autonomy,we can start talking about independece. Rome wasn't bulit in one day,u know.

I do understand your point of view, but I think that Kurds have waited far too long to achieve recognition. Ocalan woke up the Kurds in NK. I saw the change taking place myself, as my Kurdish friends from NK start to become PROUD and talk much more about THEIR country, THEIR culture and THEIR history. Some of these people I had known for years and they had hardly ever mentioned where they came from. Ocalan had charisma, he inspired the people, I watched them become PROUD KURDS.

If the momentum that Ocalan started is allowed to die, then all hopes of Kurdish freedom will die with it and all the thousands who have died for that freedom will have died for nothing. I do NOT think that Kurds have any others leaders who will have the same effect on any future generations of Kurds.

Young Kurds have the internet, they see what has been happening in the world. So many indigenous peoples have been granted land rights or, as in the case of Eastern Block countries, become independent countries in their own right. Countries such as Sudan have been divided along ethnic lines and become two entirely separate countries. Scotland intends to hold a referendum as to whether or not it should separate from England and become entirely independent.

As I mentioned before, WK will become Independent, SK will become Independent, EK may very well become Independent if Iran experiences the political meltdown they are expecting. What will the Kurds in NK have to show for all the terrible things that have been done to them.

While all around them Kurds are becoming stronger, Kurds in NK will have what ?
