It can not be answered by yes or no. Since the republic was established it has worked for assimilation of Kurds. I think , we have to make the government to reverse their assimilation politics, then in 4-5 generations, must northern Kurds will want independent. As it is now, I sadly think it is only a minority that wants independence.

I honestly do not know the answer but I do know that without the PKK promoting Independence and Education the Kurds in NK will revert to being second or third clas citizens or mountain Kurds again. Forever being despised and looked down on by Turks

If the Kurds of NK do not break free now they NEVER will. In generations to come, as Kurds grow stronger in the South, West and East, those in what should be North Kurdistan will just be Turks

This question has become much more important since the two-day conference in Diyarbakır - and the declaration listing the demands of Turkey's Kurds including a special autonomous status for traditional Kurdish lands

The declaration stated that “The peoples of Kurdistan have the right to determine their own status in the form of autonomy, federation or independence.” It also said the conference participants had agreed on principle that the right of “the peoples of Kurdistan” to self-determination can only be exercised through the votes of the people of the region.

This question is on the minds of people yet again in light of Murat Karayilan's comment:

If Murat Karayilan with all his knowledge does not believe in the peace process actually achieving anything - and that Turkey might in fact be preparing for war - who I am to disagree - I trust Murat's knowledge and judgement

erDOGan was using the Kurds and the so-called peace plan to enable him to re-activate talks with the EU concerning Turkey's membership - since his attempt appears to have failed he has absolutely no reason to make any concessions for Kurds
