the pipeline is a very good development. Basically they truck the crude out now. when kurdistan is independent, they can lay the turkish side of the pipeline straight to the sea. Are the Turks working on their side of the pipeline?

indeed , i have been saying all along , without an independent pipeline , a Kurdish state will not be financially independent , but now , thanks to Ashti Hawrami , it is possible and 2 years is nothing since construction has already begun few months ago, it will be before those iraqi f16s arrive in case iraqi government decides to pull any stupid moves in case of our independence .

Shaytan, do you think reaching 1-2 million barrels a day in production in a few years is realistic? Or is it too ambitious like Iraq's plans?

i really don't know if reaching 1-2M barrels is possible or not. of course in theory anything is possible.lay enough pipelines and drill enough wells, and have enough water for reinjection etc... and you can pump as much as you want. but there;s the factors of maintaining well pressures and not allowing water seepage into the reservoir which limits ultimate output.

Its certainly possible that kurdistan can pump as much oil as they want, as long as there's enough export pipeline capacity.

anyone know what the capacity of the pipeline to turkey is? that would provide us with a clue to future production plans.

I believe it is 500,000 barrels per day. So even if 1-2 million barrels per day is possible, we need to have more pipelines (or a very good infrastructure to transport oil over the roads). The export of 1 million barrels of oil might be possible in that case. But then you have to store 1 million barrels each day, I don't think that is possible. So we have to build more pipelines.

Do you mean the Kirkuk–Ceyhan Oil Pipeline? According to Wikipedia the capacity of this pipeline is 1.6 million barrels per day. But I dont know who controlls the Kirkuk station of the Kirkuk–Ceyhan Pipeline, do someone know that?

But this pipiline dont goes from Kurdistan to Turkey, because all piplines are only in Iraq. The KRG should build own piplines, its important for the independence. I dont know why they dont build it until now, without own piplines Kurdistan dont can increase the oil exort.

The pipelines are in green

no I meant the purely kurdish new pipeline built by Genel. If its 500k barrels/day then that indicates KRG plans for a plateu production in the range of 800k/day taking into account:
-local consumption
-truck sales
-export of refined as opposed to raw products (depends if a large grass-roots refinery is developed in Kurdistan... a very important step IMHO).

it goes right thru Duhok ,so we can charge iraq fee when we separate .

DIDN'T you read the article above at all !!?? construction has began and its at its first phase . yes they could have built it a long time ago but lets not look at why they did not lets look at when it will finish , it says in 2 years , work on it has began few months ago , so i'd say right about the time of f16 deliveries to iraq.
